Question by Kristine: What is the difference between Intel Pentium processors and AMD turion II dual-core mobile processor?
I’m looking to buy a laptop and i’m not sure what the difference is or which one is better. I’m trying to decide between the dell inspiron with the intel pentium processor or a toshiba with an AMD processor. If you have any advice to which one i should get or any information as to which processor is better to go with please let me know. Thank you for your help.

Different brands. AMD Turion II is faster by the way.
What do you think? Answer below!

It would be easier to tell if you said which model they are (eg: Pentium T4400 or AMD turion II M520 and what the integrated graphics are.
The Pentium is very slightly faster (if their GHz speed is similar) but the AMD has better integrated graphics. With the Pentium you will have trouble watching 1080p videos. (unless it has the GMA 4500MHD instead of the GMA 4500M). If you are going to be watching a lot of videos and viewing photos and other graphical things the AMD is the better choice.
However, if its not an old Pentium T4400 but instead the P6000 (which is based on the new i3 and i5 processors) then ignore what I have said so far. The graphics in the Pentium will be just as good and the AMD (if the AMD has Radeon HD 4200 or 4250) and it will be more efficient but about the same speed.
Basically, comparing the T4400, P6000 and M520:
– about the same processing speed
– P6000 more efficient (slightly less heat, uses slightly less power)
– T4400 has less graphics power
– P6000 and M520 have about the same graphics power.
I would buy P6000 first, M520 second, T4400 third.
